After School Arts is one of the most dynamic, interactive, and personal projects of Love Providence. Since 2007, the Providence School System was forced to significantly decrease funding for the arts and music programs in public elementary schools. Knowing the importance of art and music education for young children, especially those in at-risk communities, the After School Arts program was developed and soon became an integral part of the Reservoir Ave Elementary School community.

The program is run entirely by a team of nearly thirty volunteers who are committed to providing a creative outlet for nearly forty students each year. Volunteers serve as tutors, mentors, and friends—teaching students everything from painting and music to creative writing and film. Individuals engage in the lives of these at-risk students and facilitate their creative expression in a positive and encouraging environment. New classes are offered throughout the year, including personal music or art lessons for students interested in more personal instruction.

After School Arts celebrates the work of student artists in a semi-annual community dinner and gallery/show. Student work is professionally displayed throughout the space, followed by performances in dance, music, theater, and martial arts. These events encourage interaction between parents, teachers, tutors, and the community and celebrate the talent and hard work of each of the students.
